With over 66 years of experience, the company has shifted its focus through the years—starting with a wide array of paint and glass services, then narrowing its offerings to specialize in high-quality glass products such as custom shower doors, mirrors, and other essential glass items.
The company's journey began in Peters Township and underwent a significant transformation in the 1980s when the focus on auto glass was dropped, capitalizing instead on the burgeoning demand for shower doors and decorative glass products. The Rectenwald family—founders Joseph Rectenwald and his sons—has remained integral to the company's growth. After the passing of Joe Jr. in 1985, Donald Jr. took over as president, continuing to foster the company’s dedication to craftsmanship and quality service for another 30 years.
In 2012, Mike Schmitz, who is married to one of the Rectenwalds, became president and expanded Rex Glass into three locations, including a flagship showroom that opened in 2021 in Zelienople.
